(Zagreb, 1959) A composer, songwriter, lead vocal, guitar-player, keyboard and electronic music player, founder and leader of Van Hajsek Orchestra, graduated at the Composition and Theory of Music Department of the Zagreb Music Academy. Works as an independent artist-composer. He is the author of several hundred pieces of music, ranging from classical, purely musical orchestral and soloist forms, to ballet, theatre, TV and film music, and popular music as well. Among his works are: “Mishima” ballet, “Majka” for chorus and orchestra, TV-series “Tikvići”, and music for documentary films “Mala Falkuša” and “Dolari s Pacifika”, and feature films “Bogorodica” and “Mišolovka”.

As far as popular music is concerned, he is the author, producer and arranger of all music performed by band “Peti Element”, published by Orfej. He cooperates with many well-known musicians of various musical backgrounds, from classical soloists, to roots, jazz, rock, techno, ambient music and hip hop. He sees his music concept, basically post-modernist synthesis, through usage of pinnacles of classical tradition, synthesized with modern currents and technology, with the addition of authentic Croatian music. Special attention is given to the fact that authentic Croatian music is part of the basis of western music tradition, primarily in the works of the greatest classical composers, like Beethoven and Haydn, who were inspired by authentic Croatian music. He is the recipient of many awards, most famously of two national music awards “Porin”, as the author of the best soundtrack for movie “Bogorodica”, and as the author of the best music for theatre, film and TV, for “Noć”.
